Near Tokyo Station there is one of the marvels of modern architecture. The Tokyo International Forum is sandwiched between office towers and the Shinkansen Express railway lines.
The Forum contains half a dozen conference and concert halls, restaurants and exhibition spaces on multiple levels. But the centerpiece is the eliptical glass atrium, a 60 meter high, open lobby.

What really is so fascinating about this huge atrium, it seems that the complete roof, hundreds of tons of glass and steel, is balanced on only two massive steel columns.

Not four or a hundred. Two.
