Travel in China

As an individual traveller to China I found that there is very little useful information on the web.

This part of The China Room is an effort to supply information for China travellers who are interested in doing their own thing. I'll present a few easy routes that can be and are done individually. Along the way I'll tell you what to bring, how to get to the places and what there is to see when you finally arrive.

I'm NOT running a travel agency. I just think that this is a good way to show you around. You have to do the travelling yourself...
Route One
Beijing - Datong - Xi'an - Beijing

Route Two
Beijing - Xi'an - Wuhan - Shanghai - Beijing

Route Three
Hong Kong - Shanghai - Qingdao - Beijing

Route Four
Hong Kong - Yangshuo - Kunming - Chengdu - Wuhan - Shanghai - Hong Kong

Route Five
Shanghai - Hangzhou - Suzhou - Nanjing - Shanghai

Route Six
Beijing - Xi'an - Lanzhou - Dunhuang - Beijing

A list of all Chinese cities covered in the routes above
Your questions, please...

"20 hours on a train? You must be crazy..."

"No advance bookings? How do I get a trainticket?"

"Is it safe to travel in China?"

"I have only two weeks..."
